Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, and it is one of the best times of the year to get involved in online dating business. Let’s quickly glance over some of the more interesting facts related to this romantic holiday, and see how it impacts the industry.
It’s not a secret that Valentine’s is a highly commercialized holiday, with romance-related spending spiking significantly in retail across the globe. But does this translate to online enterprises, and most importantly to online dating?
Unsurprisingly, February 14th sees quite an uptick as far as holiday online activities go. According to Time, almost all of the major players on the market, including Match, OKCupid, JDate, Tinder, etc., report increased amount of sign-ups, exchanged messages, and other user interactions right around the date.
What’s more interesting is that St. Valentine’s Day itself is not the highest point of the romance-filled season (more on that later). After all, many people are busy with last-minute shopping, restaurant arrangements, seing latest Nicholas Sparks movies, and you know, actual dating… If they have a date, that is.
Luckily for us, not all online dating business models follow Ashley Madison blueprints, with most safely relying on singles. And since no one wants to be alone on St. Valentine’s Day, said singles turn to online dating as the last resort. Keep this in mind when planning the launch date for your site, or scheduling marketing. Boosting your membership numbers is much easier when the audience is actively seeking a new and unique dating platform, and high traffic is virtually guaranteed with the right approach.
